This Spaniel Field Trial is held under the Rules and Procedures of the American Kennel Club.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE --- Open to English Cocker Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels that have placed First, Second, Third or Fourth in any Open All-Age Stake at any AKC licensed English Cocker Spaniel/Cocker Spaniel Field Trial from November 3, 2021 through October 16, 2022 and previous winners of the National Open Cocker Field Trial Championship

This event is now CLOSED and only Opened to NEW QUALIFIERS until October 17th until 10 AM.

Please read below for explanation!

Only dogs qualifying in trials October 12, 2022 and up to October 16, 2022 will be eligible to enter after 1st closing. Owners must contact the Field Trial Secretary immediately after qualifying. These newly qualified dogs will be added to the running order accordingly.

Dogs that qualify at the last weekend event (October 15 and 16, 2022) have until 10 am Monday, October 17, 2022 ET to entry on Hunt Secretary.

The headquarters are No personal ATVs will be allowed on the Grounds per DNR rules
AKC and ECSCA require that All Persons in the field wear blaze orange, not smaller than a cap

First Place Awards

The ECSCA National Field Trial Championship Trophy
Mr. David W. Flanagan offers, through the ECSCA for competition at its National Championship Field Trial only, a Sterling Silver plate, engraved with the name of each winner. To be won three times by the identical owner(s), not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive national championships. Possession to be retained by the ECSCA until terms of possession have been met.

A Platinum Stein commemorative trophy is offered by the ECSCA to the winner of the NCC.

The Larry MacQueen Memorial Championship Trophy
The MacQueen family offers this perpetual trophy to be permanently retained at Flint Hills Preserve, to the winner of the National Cocker Championship. This Silver cup was won by Mr. MacQueen who handled FTCH Greatford Charlie the 1959 Championship. The winning dogs name will be engraved on a plate at the base of the trophy.


The Fallen Wings Breeders Cup
Rumi and Michael Schroeder offer, through the ECSCA, for competition at its National Championship Field Trial only, a crystal vase, on a wood base with the names of the winning dog and its breeder(s), is offered to the breeder of the winner. For permanent possession, to be won three times by the identical breeder(s), not necessarily by the same dog or at consecutive national championships. Possession to be retained by the ECSCA or the donors until terms of possession have been met.
A commemorative trophy is offered to the winner by the donors.

In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog.
